The Number 1 Ski Resort In Europe

Located In Verbier, Switzerland, The Mountain Resort Town That Was Recently Voted The Number 1 Ski Resort In Europe. And let’s be honest, that really means the best ski resort in the world because everyone knows that the Europeans invented skiing and ski culture. No one in the world can do it better.

“We moved to Switzerland from California for the Spring term of 2017. VIS was a great educational and cultural experience for our three children. They received the educational challenges and support they needed to advance. In particular their language skills in French improved dramatically. I would highly recommend the school to any family considering relocating to Verbier. We wish we could have stayed longer.”

Verbier International School

VIS Elite Ski Racing Academy

Your child would be entitled to a year-round ski programme, including multiple personal training sessions each week, all with a top notch secondary education. The Verbier International School is proud to announce this exciting new ski academy initiative, and is ready to have students sign up immediately with our rolling admissions policy.

It’s not all about skiing and fun either.

The Verbier International School (VIS) teaches in a progressive academic environment that prepares Primary students for and guides Secondary pupils through the IGCSE curriculum.

Top universities in the US and Europe have a 20% higher chance of selecting students from an international program.

Top universities in the US and Europe have a 20% higher chance of selecting students from an international program.

So you can be sure that your child is receiving the highest level of education during their time at VIS.

The VIS Race training has been built up in collaboration with the Verbier Swiss Ski School.  We have chosen some of the best coaches to train your child for racing.

The season starts in September where the child trains with a PT trainer twice a week to get ready for the ski season.  Each month from September to December the students will go up to the glacier either in Saas Fee or Zermatt to get some ski straining done on snow.  The coach is then able to coordinate with the PT trainer what needs to be trained.  Starting in December we can then move to on snow training where the students train 4 afternoons a week with the coach.  We follow the Swiss ski program which starts with GS races, we then move to Super G, combi cross and Slalom.  We also make sure that we are training their technique and stamina so it is not all about gate training.  The students are then signed up into the different ski races that are offered in the region, from the Swiss Ski Circuit  or the SGIS interschool ski competitions and lastly the British Ski race in Pila.  For every race there is a coach and transport is organised for the student to be there and looked after.

The season comes out to about 12 ski races, 44 afternoons of skiing and 22 afternoons of PT training.

To be part of this programme, the student has to be sure to continue their school programme, we make sure that they are followed by their teachers and the student has time to catch up on missed work. We understand that this is a challenging programme, but many of our students love the challenge to take on the added responsibility of having a demanding race schedule, and excelling at their course work.

LET’S NOT FORGET THE OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE FUN AND LEARN A LANGUAGE AT THE SAME TIME

We have a close network of Host Family options where your child can be placed with a French speaking family. If you want to give your child a huge jump start in life and have them speaking French & English, this is the perfect scenario. During the days your child will be taught in English combined with daily French lessons, and during the evenings communicate in French with their host family. English, Swedish and Spanish are also available upon request.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

When it comes to extra-curricular activities, the Verbier International School is located in the heart of the Swiss Alps with 360 degree views of mountains, some of the highest in Europe are on our doorstep. Verbier is home to the extreme Freeride World Championships each year, and there is a good reason for this. Verbier has some of the best and most extreme skiing on the planet. But don’t let that scare you, with over 500 kms of trails, and 4 huge resort mountains all interlinking with easy lift access, there is plenty of terrain for all levels.

VIS has a strong belief in the value of sports to enhance your child’s education. There are a host of other activities for your child to participate in, including but not limited to; ice hockey, freestyle skiing, freeride skiing, horseback riding, tennis, golf in the spring, squash, climbing, mountain biking and indoor swimming.

My daughter Lola (13) has attended LVIS for many years. In times of personal difficulty, she and we as a family have been supported beyond measure! She thrives and loves going to school every day, which in my opinion is by far the most important element in a human being’s association with learning and furthering their capacities throughout a lifetime! I can honestly say, that I can not imagine ( and given my experience with my elder son and friends families) any other learning institution to be that helpful and supportive, always with first our daughters finest interest at the heart of the matter! Thank you LVIS”

The Headmaster is very involved in the school and the children on a daily basis. The staff commitment is also at an exceptionally high level and we feel they have the best interest of the child at heart. We are very fortunate to have Miss Pickard as the childrens teacher and she goes above and beyond what I would expect from any teacher and could not recommend her highly enough. The after school activities which are included in the fees are also a huge added bonus and are fun, interesting and divers for the children. All in all our experience so far could not have been better and we are so happy we allowed the children to try out LVIS.
